Pune: RCP Baner Hosts Heartwarming Christmas Carnival for Specially-Abled Children

Baner, 30th December 2023: The Rotary Club of Pune (RCP) Baner organized a touching and meaningful Christmas celebration for 380 specially-abled students at Bal Kalyan Sanstha on December 27, held at the BKS premises in Aundh, Pune.

The program, named समाVESH, was a collaborative effort by Rotary Club of Pune Baner, Rotaract Club of Pune IIEBM, Rotaract Club of Pune Baner, Rotaract Club of Indira College, and Interact Club of Indus Pune. Eight international students from Rotary Youth Exchange, representing various countries, also participated in the program.

During the four-hour program समाVESH, specially-abled children at BKS enjoyed a festive Christmas carnival filled with games and surprises.

As the children arrived at 11:00 am, they were greeted with a surprise cake from Santa Claus. The event featured various activities such as a ring game, tattoo stamping, throwball from a clown’s mouth, breaking a tower of glasses, and throwing ping pong balls into tumblers.

Rotarian Prreeya Karria, the Youth Director of Rotary Club of Pune Baner, Co-director (District) Rotary Youth Exchange Avenue, and the program convenor, expressed, “This program is valuable because it underlines the Rotary values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The highlight of the carnival was the screening of the Hindi film Chillar Party, which the special audience enjoyed a lot. The event brought happiness, cheer, and bonding among the students.” Importantly, as the event was organized by youth from Rotaract, Interact, and RYE, it facilitated seamless interaction between privileged youth and disabled and specially-abled children, Prreeya added. Lunch was provided to all the children during the event.
