Pune, 6th August 2021: Some important roads in the city are being encroached and this is causing trouble to motorists as well as pedestrians. Necessary care should be taken to prevent encroachments by paying serious attention to this, said Ganesh Bidkar, House Leader of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Bidkar had called a meeting of officials today to discuss the encroachments on various roads in the city and the inconvenience caused to the citizens. Hemant Rasne, Chairman of the Standing Committee, Dnyaneshwar Molak, Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Madhav Jagtap, Head and Deputy Commissioner of Anti-Encroachment Department, Deputy Commissioners of Zones One to Five, Assistant Commissioners of 15 Ward Offices and officers of Anti-Encroachment Department were present on the occasion.

“As the prevalence of corona decreases, the crowds of citizens on the roads are increasing. On many of the city’s main streets, vendors have set up their stalls. As shops are being set up on the footpaths as well as on the roads, pedestrians come and go on the roads and drivers have to bear the brunt of it. This needs serious attention from everyone. With various festivals and Ganeshotsav coming up in just one month, the number of people illegally setting up stalls may increase in the next few days. It is the responsibility of the municipal corporation to take necessary care so that the incidence of corona does not increase in the future”, Bidkar said.

Take care of the beggars

Even the beggars at many chowks of the city sometimes have to suffer. It has come to light that these people are harassing the drivers by hitting the windows of cars and four-wheelers with their hands. It was also suggested that action be taken against them with the help of the police.
