Pune Resident Assaulted, Forced to Sign Flat Over Crypto Investment Delay

Pune, 1st May 2023: A 40-year-old man was abducted after investors were not receiving returns on their investment in cryptocurrency.

Sameer Dastgir Kazi of Thergaon had advised the accused to invest in Digital Technology PlatinWorld in Germany. They had been receiving monthly refunds in the form of cryptocurrency for the last three months. However, due to updates in the system, withdrawal in Indian currency was taking time. The accused, who are acquaintances of Kazi, believed that he was responsible for the delay.

Ajinkya Pratap Kadam, Vaibhav Bharat Kadam, Shreyas Kadam, Rahul Nimbalkar, Manoj Bhagat, and Abhimanyu Ghanwat, all residents of Phaltan in Satara district, along with three accomplices, assaulted Kazi with a knife and demanded Rs 65 lakh, which they had invested in the company. They then forced him into a car from Shubham Hotel on JM Road in Shivajinagar and took him to Maharaja hotel in Phaltan, where he was kept overnight, and then to an unknown farmhouse in the field at Phaltan. There, they threatened him with a knife and forced him to sign the documents of his flat in Lakshminagar in Phaltan, which was done in the name of Manoj Bhagat.

Kazi was released after being threatened not to report the incident to anyone. However, he filed a complaint with Pune police, and a case was registered against the accused at Deccan Police Station. The incident took place between April 26 and 27. The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and Police Inspector Pathan is leading the case.
