Pune: Residents Agitated As Club Owner Bursts Firecrackers Next To Electrical Transformer In Kalyani Nagar

Kalyani Nagar, 12th November 2023: In a disturbing incident of negligence, residents of Kalyani Nagar have claimed that the owner of Pergola De Pines Pub put the safety of the community at risk by engaging in reckless behaviour of igniting firecrackers dangerously close to a transformer yesterday on 12th November 2023 around 9:31 pm.

This irresponsible act not only poses a direct threat to lives but also carries the potential for fatal accidents and widespread electricity outages. The repercussions of this thoughtless action highlight the urgent need for immediate corrective measures.

The primary concern arising from the ignition of firecrackers near a transformer is the heightened risk of a fire outbreak. Sparks or embers can easily ignite nearby flammable materials, posing an immediate threat to the safety of patrons, staff, and residents in the surrounding area.

The close proximity to the transformer elevates the likelihood of individuals experiencing electric shock, a potentially lethal consequence that puts the lives of anyone in the vicinity at immediate risk.

Damage to the transformer could lead to a significant electricity outage, disrupting not only the pub’s operations but also impacting neighbouring businesses and residences. This has cascading effects on daily life and activities within the community.

Manisha Navaghane, a resident of Kalyani Nagar Lane 6 A, said, “The Pergola De Pines Pub owner did the same thing on New Year’s Eve as well. It’s extremely dangerous for our community. When I questioned him, he uncompromisingly said that the firecrackers wouldn’t enter our houses. I complained to the Pune Police on WhatsApp last night, and so far, no action has been taken.”

The irresponsible burning of firecrackers contributes to adverse environmental effects as the release of pollutants adds to air pollution, further degrading the quality of the surroundings. The noise generated by firecrackers disrupts the peace of the community, impacting the well-being of residents and causing distress.

Residents have demanded immediate action be taken to address and rectify this irresponsible behaviour in the view of safeguarding the community.
