Aundh, 30th March 2026: Representatives of the Balewadi Welfare Federation held a meeting with the Assistant Municipal Commissioner and the Aundh Ward Officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation to raise several civic issues affecting residents in Balewadi, Baner and surrounding areas.

During the meeting, the federation highlighted the recent tragic death of a five-year-old boy, Shrinay Dhende, who reportedly fell into the river in the Bhimnagar area of Balewadi due to the absence of a protective boundary wall along the riverbank. The delegation urged the administration to immediately construct a safety boundary wall or install an iron grill along the riverbank in Bhimnagar to prevent such incidents in the future.

The representatives also demanded improved lighting arrangements at the crematorium in Balewadi. They requested the installation of additional streetlights to ensure adequate illumination in the area.

Another issue raised during the meeting was the lack of a public toilet facility at the Baner Traffic Police Station. The delegation urged the authorities to provide a public toilet so that citizens and visitors do not face inconvenience.

The federation further requested the immediate removal of garbage accumulated near Sai Chowk and outside Balewadi Stadium. They suggested installing a temporary sheet compound fence at the site to prevent further dumping of waste.

Additionally, the delegation demanded the construction of a proper footpath for pedestrians along the nine-metre road near Nandan Society to improve pedestrian safety.

The representatives also called for regular meetings at the Aundh Regional Office to address water supply issues and ensure timely resolution of residents’ complaints.

The demands were submitted by Moreshwar Balwadkar, Vice President of the Balewadi Welfare Federation, who urged the civic administration to take prompt action on the issues raised by residents.
