Pune: Residents Panic After 14 Burglaries In Two Hours In Lullanagar

Pune, December 21, 2020: Lullanagar residents are left in a state of shock and concern after four masked thieves into 13 flats from three housing societies and one independent bungalow. These incidents took place on Sunday between 2 am to 4 am. 

The police have informed that the burglars stole gold ornaments and cash from these flats. The break-ins happened in 14 places which involved one multimedia studio as well. 

It is alleged that one eye witness was suspicious of the four masked men and even saw them leaving in a car but he only gave information after the police came to his housing society for questioning. 

The break-ins took place in seven flats from the Aristocrat Housing Society and three each in Alishaan Corner Society and Sona Apartments. 

The mass burglary has agitated the residents and they have requested the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to install CCTV cameras in the streets. The residents have also questioned the police officials and their patrolling. They have said that the masked men were roaming freely in a car late at night after robbing 14 homes and were never once stopped and questioned by a police officer. 

Inspector Shabbir Sayyad of the Kondhwa police station said that one resident heard noises from a neighbouring flat and also saw four masked men leaving in a car but he did not alert the police. The burglars stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 10,000 from three flats. Their movements were observed to be in lane number 1, 3 and 4 near Mount Carmel Convent High School, Lullanagar.

Break-ins and items stolen: 

  • Lane number 1, Sona Apartments (3 flats including one studio) – Gold ring from one of the flats and Rs 5000 cash from the studio.
  • Lane number 3, two wings of Aristocrat Society (3 flats each in both the wings) and Alishaan Corner Society (3 flats) – Rs 5000 cash and gold ornaments from two flats.
  • Lane number 4, H Wing of Aristocrat Society (1 flat) – no items stolen. 
  • One independent bungalow
