Wanowrie, 13th April 2025: Samvidhan Chowk, a vital junction that connects ABC Farm, Salunke Vihar, and Jagtap Chowk in Wanorie, has turned into a daily nightmare for commuters and residents. For over four weeks, ongoing civic work has led to the closure of two critical paved roads approaching the chowk from the north and west, severely affecting traffic movement — and more worryingly, access for emergency services.

Adding fuel to the fire, a massive scaffolding structure for a stage and loudspeakers was erected on Saturday right at the chokepoint where the civic work ends, further narrowing the already congested intersection. The stage has taken over an entire section of the chowk, leaving citizens fuming over what they say isutterly careless and politically driven mismanagement.”

“There are huge open grounds on either side of the chowk, yet someone thought it was a great idea to block the only exit with a stage setup, said a local shopkeeper, requesting anonymity. This isn’t just poor planning — it feels intentional.”

Residents are especially concerned about the impact on ambulance services. The north and west roads at Samvidhan Chowk are vital for ambulances heading to Ruby Hall Clinic — one of the city’s top emergency care hospitals.

“What happens if someone’s life is on the line and the ambulance is stuck because of this mess?asked a resident from Salunke Vihar. The civic work delays were bad enough. Now, this stage setup seems like it’s deliberately designed to make things worse.”

Despite visible PMC barricades and police presence at the site, no official action has been taken to clear the blockage or shift the setup to a less disruptive location. There’s no sense of urgency or accountability. It reeks of politically motivated troublemaking, said another local resident.

Citizens say they are not against public events or political gatherings but question the timing, placement, and disregard for public inconvenience. The stage could have easily been installed at the open grounds nearby. Blocking a major junction during peak hours, near an emergency route, is beyond irresponsible, added a commuter stuck in traffic for over 45 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

As the chaos continues under the watch of local authorities, residents are now demanding immediate intervention from senior officials in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the traffic police. We expect governance, not deliberate disruption, said another resident, voicing a sentiment echoed across the area.

For now, Samvidhan Chowk stands as a symbol of civic negligence and rising public frustration — with no clear answers in sight.
