Lohgaon, 27th May 2025: Residents of Lohgaon are facing severe hardships due to the poor condition of Bharat Mata Road, which runs parallel to Porwal Road. With heavy pre-monsoon rains already lashing the area, the unpaved stretch has turned into a mess of waterlogging and potholes, making commuting a daily ordeal.

The road, which connects Dhanori Road to the Goodwill Zest society near Ajeenkya DY Patil University, has remained only partially developed for years. The incomplete construction has left the remaining stretch riddled with mud, stagnant water, and deep potholes — raising concerns among locals about what the full monsoon season might bring.

“This road becomes completely unusable after even a short spell of rain,” said a resident of Goodwill Zest society. “It’s not just inconvenient, it’s unsafe — especially for two-wheeler riders and school-going children.”

A resident of Kohinoor Viva City said, “We are struggling because of the poor condition of this road. No school bus, cab, or auto is willing to come here.”

Despite repeated complaints and follow-ups with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and local political representatives, no action has been taken. Residents allege that the civic authorities and elected officials have turned a blind eye to their plight.

“The PMC needs to take urgent action before the situation worsens during the monsoon,” said another resident. “We’ve been waiting for years, but the road remains half-built and neglected.”

The issue highlights a larger problem of poor infrastructure development in rapidly growing suburbs like Lohgaon, where population growth has far outpaced civic planning and execution.

As the monsoon approaches, residents are demanding immediate attention from PMC to complete the pending work and ensure safe access for the thousands of people who depend on this route daily.
