Pune: Retired High Court Judge to Head Committee Investigating Kidney Racket at Ruby Hall Clinic

Mumbai, 17th March 2023: Maharashtra Health Minister, Tanaji Sawant, has declared that a committee will be set up to investigate the recent kidney racket at Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune. The committee, which will be headed by a retired High Court judge and consist of government and non-government members, has been given the mandate to submit its report within three months.

The announcement came after BJP MLA Madhuri Misal raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly, stating that the main accused in the racket is still absconding, and that the racket’s tentacles have spread throughout Maharashtra, making it an organized crime.

The minister also said that investigation will be conducted about the irregularities in the treatment provided to the poor and economically weaker citizens in hospitals under the jurisdiction of the Charity Commissioner, free or discounted treatment at a rate of fifty percent will be examined by auditors, and action will be taken against hospitals found to have irregularities.
