Pune: Rickshaw Driver Injures Passenger’s Eye Over Misunderstanding

Hadapsar, 4th January 2023: A passenger booked an Uber ride to go home near Srinath Medical near the MP Petrol Pump in the Hadapsar area of Pune.

At that time, a rickshaw driver came to the place and inquired. But the rickshaw driver mistook the passenger for cursing him, and he started beating the passenger severely.

A case has been registered against the unidentified rickshaw driver at Hadapsar police station. Ganesh Shivaji Rupnur (41), a resident of Manjari, Pune, has filed a complaint with the police. The incident happened on Monday (2nd January) at around 9.45 pm.

On the day of the incident, Ganesh was booking his Uber ride in the Hadapsar area to go home. At that time, an unknown rickshaw driver came and asked him where he wanted to go.

After that, misunderstanding that the complainant had abused him, the rickshaw driver asked, “Why did you abuse me?” When the passenger denied the allegations, the rickshaw driver got angry and abused the passenger and punched him three times in his right eye, resulting in the tearing of the protection coat in his eye. After this, he was admitted to Nobel Hospital.
