Pune, 9th June 2021: The Pune Ring Road Project has picked a pace as the district administration maps the land for acquisition. However, it has received strong opposition from farmers of the Shindawane, Tarde Vasti, and Koregaon Mul villages as the farmers will have to give up their farms for the ring road.

Farmers have raised questions as to how long they will be able to survive on the compensation that they will receive. They have demanded that roads should pass from outside of the village instead of cutting through their farmlands.

Sarpanch Anna Mahadik and other farmers have warned to block the ring road if the administration does not pay heed to their demand.

The officers were supposed to go and map the land for ring road acquisition. However, they chose not to after learning that farmers were gathering at the place.

The 103 km long ring road in eastern Haveli taluka will need around 825 hectares of land. The land acquisition will begin in two months. The process for measuring the land was going to start in 15 days.
