Pune, 10th June 2021: The land for the Pune ring road at Ranje village in Bhor taluka was measured on Wednesday by the revenue department under police protection. Despite the farmers objecting to the notices, the government has started the process of the measurement in a dictatorial manner, say the farmers.

The Pune ring road, a project of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), passes through Kelwade, Kanjale, Ranje and other villages in Bhor taluka. It passes through the fertile land in these villages. As a result, many farmers will have to become landless. Therefore, the farmers of this area have been opposed to this ring road from the very beginning. Earlier, villagers had turned away government officials.

However, on Wednesday, the police came to the rescue of the revenue department as they surveyed the land for the ring road in Ranje village. The villagers have opposed the measurement, accusing the government of acting in a dictatorial manner.

“We are going to become landless by getting a paltry sum for our fertile lands. So we are opposed to this ring road. Despite our objections to the land survey, the government has started measuring the land for the ring road,” said the villagers.

Bhor Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Rajendra Jadhav said, “We have discussed the issue of Ring Road many times with the farmers. However, their main demand is that the Ring Road should be taken to the side of the hill without taking it through fertile land. However, the boundary of Ring Road has been fixed and cannot be changed.”

Sandeep Patil, Executive Engineer, MSRDC, said, “We have already answered the objections raised by the farmers on the ring road. Farmers can object to the valuation of their land. But we cannot take the ring road from outside the villages due to technical issues.”
