Rajput slum near Mhatre bridge from Deccan Chowpatty to Shivane-Kharadi road in the riverbed, a two-kilometre-long riverside road has been developed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The road from the riverbed to Mhatre bridge from Deccan passes through the Rajput slum area. There were a few huts and a few squatter houses within a hundred meters of this area. Hence, there was a constant traffic jam in this area. Therefore, there was a constant demand for the widening of the road.

The process of land acquisition and rehabilitation was stalled for the last ten years as well. But now, the Municipal Corporation has rehabilitated 36 properties and widened the road after demolishing properties. After the widening of the road, the works of laying sewage channels were taken up by the Municipal Corporation.

As these works stopped, the road was closed to traffic. However, the Road Department of the Municipal Corporation informed us that the road has been opened for traffic as the works of laying sewage channels and the stalled repair work have been completed. As the works of sewerage channels and the Water Supply Department have been completed, the Road Department has completed the process of asphalting; hence, this road has been opened for traffic.
