Pune: Robbers Attempt to Rob Petrol Pump Worker of Rs 3.5 Lakh on Katraj-Kondhwa Road

Katraj, 14th January 2025: Three robbers attempted to rob a petrol pump worker of ₹3.5 lakh in cash on the Katraj-Kondhwa road. The worker sustained injuries during the scuffle but managed to thwart the robbery attempt.
The victim, identified as Salim Sikander Sheikh (31), a resident of Khadakwasla, lodged a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. According to the police, Sheikh, an employee at a petrol pump, was on his way to deposit the day’s cash collection at a bank around 4:30 pm on Monday when the incident occurred.
The three assailants intercepted Sheikh in the Mauli Nagar area and attacked him with a wooden stick, striking his head and causing injuries. Despite the assault, Sheikh held onto the cash bag tightly. His screams for help alerted nearby residents, causing the thieves to flee the scene.
Upon being informed, senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, Assistant Commissioner Rahul Aware, and Senior Inspector Dashrath Patil, arrived at the spot to assess the situation.
A case has been registered against the three unidentified culprits, and Assistant Police Inspector Shende is leading the investigation to trace them.
