Pune University Chowk to Undergo Traffic Changes for Metro Construction
Pune, 14th January 2025: One of the most bustling squares, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk, is going to undergo major work for Pune Metro. Due to this, some traffic changes are being implemented by the Pune City Police Commissionerate’s Traffic Branch. Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende, in charge of the traffic branch, has issued these orders. The changes will be implemented from tomorrow, January 15th, on an experimental basis until further notice.
Following are the changes:
1. Vehicles going from Baner to Shivajinagar: Traffic going from Baner to Shivajinagar will take a left at Aundh Road, make a U-turn from the puncture in front of Raj Bhavan, and then proceed via SPPU Main Gate towards Shivajinagar.
2. Vehicles going from Shivajinagar to Aundh: Unlike the interim arrangement where motorists going to Aundh had to go to Baner Road and take a U-turn, vehicles from Shivajinagar going to Aundh will now proceed straight via University Chowk.
3. Vehicles going from Aundh to Shivajinagar: Vehicles going from Aundh to Shivajinagar should take a left at Millennial Gate (Chaturshringi Police Station), enter SPPU premises, take a right, exit from the main gate of SPPU, and proceed to their desired destination.
DCP Zende has urged citizens to cooperate, use the designated routes, and coordinate with the traffic branch.
