Pune: Robbers Tie Up 60-Year-Old Woman, Loot Gold Worth Rs 48 Lakh in Talawade
Pune, 14th October 2026: Three robbers allegedly broke into a house in Jyotibanagar, Talawade, around 1am on Tuesday and looted valuables worth Rs 53.70 lakh after tying up a 60-year-old woman and threatening her with a knife.
The accused stole 68 tolas of gold jewellery worth Rs 48.25 lakh, Rs 5 lakh in cash, silver jewellery worth Rs 30,000, a mobile phone worth Rs 10,000 and a wristwatch worth Rs 5,000.
The victim, identified as Bharati Maruti Bhalekar, lodged a complaint at the Chikhali police station on Tuesday.
According to senior inspector Ranjit Jadhav, the Bhalekar family has rented out some rooms and leased its premises to a company. Bharati lives on the first floor of the house, while her son and daughter-in-law occupy the ground floor.
On Monday night, Bharati locked the living room door on the first floor and went to sleep. The accused allegedly climbed onto the terrace from an under-construction building behind the house and broke open the living room door to gain entry.
They allegedly pinned Bharati down while she was asleep, tied her hands and legs, covered her face with saris and assaulted her. They also threatened her with a knife before fleeing with the valuables.
Police suspect the accused used their knowledge of the ongoing construction behind the house to access the terrace and enter the property. Despite the victim’s son and daughter-in-law being present on the ground floor, the robbers targeted Bharati on the first floor.
Assistant inspector Ram Gangurde is investigating the case.
