Rotary became well-known for its active participation in the drive for Polio Eradication for the whole world. The seven focus areas of Rotary are International Peace, Health, Water Management, Mother and Child Health, Basic Education, Socio-Economic Development, and Environment.

The young generation is looked up to as future leaders for International Peace. To help them better understand the world’s social issues and socialization, children up to the age of 18, from various countries in the world, are sent to families in each other’s countries for three months or one year. In Rotary terminology, this is known as the “Rotary Youth Exchange” program. These students stay with two or more families in the host countries, study in local colleges, learn local languages, family, social and religious cultures, traditions, dance etc. They also participate in various projects and activities of Rotary and present them to their home clubs. This helps the local clubs gain financial support from their foreign counterparts for various projects and helps Rotary build and enhance a good public image through newspapers, TV, and the internet.

For the last several years, the Rotary Club of Pune Sinhagad Road has been participating in the immersion procession of the Kasaba Ganpati along with these RYE students carrying the flags of their countries and boards bearing the social project themes of Rotary.
