Pune RPF’s Tejaswini Squad To Improve Safety Of Women And Child Passengers During Their Train Journey

Pune 22nd August 2023: The members of Railway Protection Force (RPF) have started a dedicated squad to help women and child passengers in the Pune division. The dedicated squad named ‘Tejswaini Pathak (Squad)’ was formed on August 15. The team has been given a task to create awareness about railway helpline number 139 and divisional safety control room Whatsapp number 7219613777.

The team of ‘Tejaswini Squad’ comprises a female Assistant Sub Inspector Poonam Sharma and two other women RPF personnel while Inspector of Hadapsar Priti Kulkarni is supervising the initiative. These officials are regularly travelling in trains between Pune and Lonavala and they are also interacting with women passengers especially on Deccan Express, Intercity Express, Sinhagad Express and Local trains.

A dedicated Whatsapp group has also been created in which concerned officials and women passengers have been added. The group is used by RPF to interact and take feedback from the women passengers to improve safety measures in the Pune division. This squad is also making an awareness among women passengers to take appropriate precautions while travelling in the train. The women passengers have been appealed to get in touch with this squad for any help during their journey in trains in the Pune division.

Dr. Ramdas Bhise (IRTS), DCM & PRO, Pune, stated: “Pune division is headed by a woman, and we care for our women commuters and their security. Tejaswini squad is one such step that will make women commuters feel safe while traveling by train. A WhatsApp group of RPF staff and daily women commuters will help to solve day-to-day issues faced by them.”
