Pune: Rs 1,200 Crores Sanctioned For Water Supply, Sewage Management And Other Schemes For Newly Included Villages In PMC

Pune, 16th March 2023: The state Maharashtra government has decided to include 23 villages in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits in 2021. Before that, 11 villages have been included in 2017. For infrastructure and planned development, these villages have been included in the municipal corporation. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said in the assembly that the funds for the infrastructure of these 34 villages will not be inadequate.

MLA Sunil Tingre made an interesting suggestion regarding the inconvenience of infrastructure facilities of 23 villages included in PMC.

Chief Minister Shinde said that out of 34 villages included in the PMC, the development plan for 11 villages is being prepared through the PMC. Also, a development plan for 23 villages is being prepared through the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). A final plan of Rs 1,200 crores has been prepared.

Provision has been made in the budget for the water supply scheme, sewage management scheme, and all other schemes for these villages. The government is taking a positive role to provide all the basic facilities to these villages, he added further.

The number of corporators is decided by considering the population. Shinde also said that the number of corporators will be considered comprehensively in the reorganization.

Opposition leader Ajit Pawar, member Sanjay Jagtap, and Ashok Pawar were also present on the said occasion.
