Pune: Rs 24.7 Crore Approved For Fursungi, Uruli Devachi Water Supply Scheme
Pune, 16th November 2022: Under the Chief Minister’s Rural Drinking Water Scheme, the Maharashtra government has approved the tap water supply scheme at Fursungi and Uruli Devachi in Haveli taluka and an amount of Rs 24.07 crores has been sanctioned for it.
MP Supriya Sule was constantly striving for the approval of this scheme. This pursuit has finally been successful and has helped to solve the water problem of the villages of Fursungi and Uruli Devachi.
As per the government decision dated November 28, 2016, Administrative approval was given to the rough cost estimate of Rs 72.88 crores for this scheme. In this, the share of the state government was Rs 47.06 crore and the share of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was Rs 25.82 crore.
According to the decision of the Government, by cancelling the administrative approval given under the Chief Minister’s Rural Drinking Water Program, this scheme has been given administrative approval under the National Rural Drinking Water Program at a gross cost of Rs 75.65 crores.
In this administrative approval, the central government’s share amount is Rs 24.91 crores, the state government’s share amount is Rs 24.91 crores and the Pune Municipal Corporation’s share amount is fixed at Rs 25.82 crores.
MP Supriya Sule was constantly demanding that this plan be approved immediately and the water problem in this area should be solved at the earliest. She has held discussions with the Pune Municipal Commissioner repeatedly regarding this issue. Apart from this, while following up with the government, she has also met and corresponded with the ministers of the concerned departments many times. MP Sule had tweeted just two days ago reminding Chief Minister Shinde about this work.
As these villages of Fursungi and Uruli Devachi are included in the PMC, this scheme is not registered on the IMIS system under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme, hence the central government participation fund is not available. As a result, except for the share of the state government and the share of the PMC spent on this scheme, it is necessary to make available the amount of the share of the central government to complete the remaining works of the scheme.
A decision to grant a one-year extension on March 31, 2022, for completing the works of in-progress and incomplete water supply schemes sanctioned under the Chief Minister’s Rural Drinking Water Program and to include the tap water supply scheme (with obligation) at Fursungi and Uruli Devachi under this program was decided in the Cabinet meeting on June 6, 2022. Keeping the expenditure incurred earlier for this scheme under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme, it has been approved to give the necessary funds of Rs 24 crores.
