Pune: Rs 3 Lakh Taken By Fraudster By Using Friend’s Photo As WhatsApp DP
Wakad, January 22, 2021: A fraudster posted a photo of a person’s friend on his WhatsApp DP and cheated him for Rs three lakh. The incident took place on January 19.
A 41-year-old of Datta Mandir Road, Wakad, has complained to Wakad Police Station. Accordingly, a case has been registered against the owner of a mobile number and the owner of Canara Bank account number.
According to police, the accused posted a photo of complainant’s friend on his WhatsApp DP. After that, pretending to be his friend, the accused demanded Rs 3 lakh from the complainant stating the reason for the emergency. The complainant gave accused Rs 3 lakh.
It was later revealed that the person was not his friend.
