Pune: Rs 3,000 Crore Scam in PMRDA DP? NCP (Sharad Pawar Faction) Protests

Pune, 29th April 2025: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction led by Sharad Pawar staged a protest outside the Pune District Collector’s office on Monday, alleging a ₹3,000 crore scam linked to the now-cancelled Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Development Plan (DP).
The protest comes in the wake of the state government’s decision to scrap the existing DP under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. NCP leaders claimed that the earlier plan involved large-scale irregularities, with farmers and builders bearing the brunt of the alleged corruption.
According to the party, the formulation of the DP was riddled with fraudulent practices, where officials and middlemen manipulated land use provisions to benefit specific interests, leading to massive financial losses. The cancellation of the DP, they argue, has deprived residents of the Pune Metropolitan Region of long-term development benefits.
Addressing the protesters, Prashant Sudamrao Jagtap, NCP’s Pune city president, demanded a thorough probe into the matter. He accused the state government of shielding those responsible and called for transparency, accountability, and justice for affected stakeholders.
