Pune: Rs 6 Lakh Fine on Contractor After No Road Cleaning Workers Found in Wanowrie-Ramtekdi, Bibwewadi

Pune, 28th September 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has imposed a ₹6 lakh penalty on road-cleaning contractor L.V.G. Facilities India Pvt. Ltd. after an inspection found that none of the workers assigned to two areas was present on duty, while garbage had accumulated at several locations.
The action was taken after PMC officials inspected road-cleaning work in the Wanowrie-Ramtekdi and Bibwewadi areas, where the contractor has been assigned responsibility under the civic body’s performance-based cleaning project.
The PMC has directed the concerned ward offices to recover the penalty amount from the contractor immediately. Additional Municipal Commissioner Prajit Nair ordered the action.
Under the three-month pilot project, launched on August 1, 2026, road-cleaning work in the jurisdiction of the Wanowrie-Ramtekdi and Bibwewadi ward offices was handed over to L.V.G. Facilities India Pvt. Ltd. The initiative was introduced to improve the quality of road-sweeping services and strengthen accountability among contractors.
No workers found in Wanowrie-Ramtekdi
During an inspection by the Deputy Commissioner of the Solid Waste Management Department, roads near Galaxy Apartment, Sunshine Classic and Brahma Avenue Road in Kondhwa were found to have not been cleaned. Garbage heaps and several chronic garbage accumulation spots were also observed.
The contractor had approval for 275 sanitation workers in the area. However, none of the assigned workers were found at the site during the inspection. The PMC consequently imposed a penalty of ₹2.75 lakh for failing to carry out cleaning work on 275 beats.
325 workers absent in Bibwewadi
A similar situation was found in the Indrani Randive Road area under the Bibwewadi ward office. The contractor had been assigned 325 sanitation workers for the area, but none were found working during the inspection.
The PMC imposed a penalty of ₹3.25 lakh for failing to complete the cleaning work assigned to 325 beats.
The two penalties amount to ₹6 lakh. The PMC said the action was taken as per the prescribed procedure and directed the concerned ward offices to recover the amount from the contractor without delay.
The inspection is part of the civic body’s efforts to improve road cleanliness and ensure that contractors deploy the required workforce under the performance-based cleaning system.
