Pune: 12-Year-Old Boy Bitten by Pet Labrador in Wadgaon Sheri; Owner Booked for Alleged Negligence

Wadgaon Sheri, 29th September 2026: A 12-year-old boy was injured after a pet Labrador allegedly attacked and bit him on the face while he was playing outside his house in Wadgaon Sheri on Friday evening. The boy suffered a serious injury near his lips and required eight stitches.

Chandan Nagar police have registered a case against the dog’s owner, Tapaswini Kunal Shinde, a resident of Shinde Building in Wadgaon Sheri, following a complaint filed by the boy’s father, Vinod Sudamrao Dumne (42).

According to the complaint, Dumne and Shinde are neighbours. Shinde owns a Labrador that was allegedly allowed to roam freely in the building premises without being kept on a leash or wearing a muzzle.

Dumne told police that children regularly play in the premises and alleged that the dog had previously rushed towards residents and children. He also alleged that neighbours had earlier asked Shinde to keep the dog restrained and use a muzzle, but their requests were ignored.

The incident occurred around 6:30 pm on September 26, when Dumne’s son, Arnav, was playing outside the house. The dog allegedly ran towards him and attacked him, biting him on the face. After hearing the boy’s cries, Dumne came outside and drove the dog away.

Arnav was taken to Sagar Nursing Home Multispeciality Hospital in Wadgaon Sheri, where doctors treated his facial injury and administered eight stitches.

Dumne alleged that the attack occurred because the dog was allowed to roam freely without adequate precautions. Based on his complaint, Chandan Nagar police registered a case against Shinde for alleged negligence.

Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Linganna is investigating the case.
