Pune, 17th May 2024: The online application process for admission to 25% reserved seats under the Right to Education Act has commenced today and will continue until 31st May. The Ministry of School Education has issued guidelines for this purpose. During the application process, parents are required to select ten schools. If multiple application forms are submitted, they will be disqualified from the draw. Additionally, if any false information is detected in the application, the admission will be revoked.

The guidelines for the RTE admission process were released by the Director of Primary Education, Sharad Gosavi. The Ministry of School Education will oversee the admission process for children from economically disadvantaged, deprived, and socially backward backgrounds in self-financing schools, unaided schools, police welfare schools (unaided), and municipal schools (self-financing schools) at the first or pre-primary level for the reserved 25% seats. Parents who previously applied online for RTE admission must reapply. It is emphasized that previous applications will not be considered for the RTE admission process for the academic year 2024-25.

Children whose parents’ annual income is less than one lakh in a financial year are categorized as economically weaker. For the 25% admission process, parents must carefully select 10 schools. Google Maps will determine the distance between the school and the residence. Parents can indicate their residence location with a balloon marker, limited to five placements. Therefore, accurate residence information is crucial when selecting schools. Due to potential internet or technical issues, there may be interruptions in submitting complete applications. Hence, it’s advisable to apply as soon as possible.

If any issues arise during the admission process, the RTE website provides information for help centres. Parents can contact these centres for assistance. Students previously admitted under RTE 25% cannot reapply. Additionally, parents should refrain from uploading any documents online.
