Pune RTO registered 6525 vehicles, collected Rs 30.23 crore

Pune July 01, 2020: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune has registered 6,525 vehicles in one and a half month and collected Rs 30.23 crore as tax. The office had started working after a long gap of almost two and a half months from May 18. The office was closed due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) induced lockdown since March 25.
All state, central government and private offices were closed since then. However, after several government offices had partially began to resume work mid-May.
“As the office was opened from May 18, the RTO had started registration of vehicles which wasn’t being done due to the lockdown. The figure is low as compared to earlier registrations. We are expecting that in the coming months there will be more vehicles to be registered,”said Deputy RTO Sanjeev Bhor.
Before the lockdown the RTO registered more than 4,000 two-wheelers in a month, but due to the COVID-19 in one and a half month only 3,956 two-wheelers have been registered with the RTO. Similarly, the number of four-wheelers, auto-rickshaws registration have also declined.
