Pune RTO Surpasses Revenue Target for FY 2025-26; Collects Over Rs 1,922 Crores

Pune, 8th April 2026: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune has announced its performance report for the financial year 2025-26, highlighting a significant achievement in revenue collection and enforcement.

According to the official data released by Archana Gaikwad, Regional Transport Officer, Pune, the department has surpassed its annual revenue target, achieving 101.42% of the goal set by the state government.

For the fiscal year 2025-26, the state government had set a revenue target of ₹1,895.17 Crores for the Pune RTO through motor vehicle taxes and fees. The office successfully collected ₹1,922.12 Crores, exceeding the expectations despite various economic factors.

The RTO’s road safety enforcement squads were active throughout the year. A total of 61,509 vehicles were found in violation of traffic and transport norms. These violators were issued e-challans, resulting in a total revenue collection of ₹25.68 Crores in fines.

The department saw a high volume of administrative activity:
Driving Licenses: 1,86,824 vehicle driving licenses were issued.
International Permits: 5,584 international driving permits were processed.
New Registrations: 3,45,543 new vehicles were registered in Pune during the 2025-26 period.
HSRP: High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) were fitted on 11,18,844 vehicles within the RTO’s jurisdiction.

One of the most lucrative segments for the RTO continues to be the allotment of “Choice Numbers” (VIP numbers). A total of 56,972 vehicle owners opted for preferred numbers, contributing ₹73.76 Crores to the exchequer.

Furthermore, the office recovered ₹32.23 Crores in pending motor vehicle tax arrears and ₹9.80 Crores in environmental tax (Green Tax) arrears. Additionally, the e-auction of 193 vehicles brought in ₹1.06 Crores.

RTO Gaikwad stated that the comprehensive review of the year shows a disciplined approach to both revenue collection and the implementation of transport regulations in the district.
