Pune, 22nd December 2023: The eagerly awaited Ruby Hall Clinic-Ramwadi elevated Metro stretch is likely to miss its scheduled last-leg safety inspections in December, according to Maha Metro officials.

The latest update on Thursday suggests that the inspections, crucial for operational clearance, will now take place in the first week of January. Despite the delay, there are indications that the stretch could still be operational before the upcoming general elections.

A Maha Metro official revealed, “The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is expected to conduct the inspections in early January. Once the CMRS provides certification following the inspection, the stretch will be ready for commuters.” Initial plans had aimed for the inspections to occur in December, but technical details and supporting documents were recently submitted to the CMRS, delaying the process.

Sources within the city’s political circles suggest that the Metro stretch might be inaugurated before the official announcement of general elections. Trial runs of the Metro rakes between Ruby Hall Clinic and Ramwadi stations have been ongoing for the past month, meeting essential parameters during the trials.
