Pune: ‘Run for Unity’ Marks Sardar Patel’s Birth Anniversary Across Southern Command

Pune, 31st October 2023: In commemoration of the 148th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Southern Command organized a spirited “Run for Unity” at nine locations across the Southern Command Area of Responsibility, with soldiers, families, children and civilians participating enthusiastically. This event was held to honour the legacy and vision of Sardar Patel, who played a pivotal role in the unification of India into a single nation. This run signifies Indian Army’s tribute to his efforts in unifying our diverse and vibrant nation. At Pune the event was organised at BEG & Centre. The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony and all participants took Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

The run, which spanned 3 and 5 kilometers in most locations, saw participants from all walks of life, including army personnel, their families and civilians. It was a symbol of unity, bringing people together in the spirit of harmony and national integration. We reaffirm our commitment to upholding the principles of unity, integrity and diversity that Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel stood for.
