Pune rural police nabs 14 men who planned to kill NCP leader, loot petrol pump ; huge arms recovered

September 15, 2016: In a major detection, sleuths from the local crime branch (LCB) of Pune rural police nabbed 14 men who had planned to eliminate a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) from Maval and loot cash from a petrol pump to fight court cases.

A team under guidance of Pune rural superintendent of police Dr Jay Jadhav and police inspector Ram Jadhav, in-charge of LCB, was patrolling in Talegaon Dabhade during Ganesh festival.

An informer (khabri) tipped off assistant police inspector Satish Hodgar about some planning to loot IBP petrol pump on the Pune – Mumbai highway. Accordingly more police personnel in disguise were summoned and trap was laid around the petrol pump on Wednesday night.

Around 9.15 pm, the accused arrived in a car and Tata Sumo. They were entering the petrol pump when the policemen pounced on them.

Police Inspector Ram Jadhav said, “During we recovered three pistols, four countrymade katta, 23 live bullets, sharp weapons, SIM cards, mobile phones, totally worth Rs 6.2 lakhs. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused wanted to loot cash from the petrol pump to secure bail for their accomplices and other court works.”

Another officer added, “The accused had planned to kill NCP leader Bapu Bhegade due to past enmity. Bhegde had contested the assembly elections in the past”.
