Pune, 2nd May 2025: On Maharashtra Day 2025, the Pune Rural Police launched a major initiative aimed at improving law enforcement and community engagement in remote areas, titled One Village, One Police Patil, One Police Constable. The project, led by Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, seeks to ensure daily monitoring and swift response in over 1,500 villages under the jurisdiction of 33 police stations across 13 talukas in Pune District.
The newly launched system assigns one Police Patil and one Police Constable to each village, mandating daily visits to gather updates, interact with locals—particularly women—and take immediate action when needed. To ensure transparency and accountability, officers upload geo-tagged photos with timestamps to a centralized digital platform, confirming their presence in the designated areas.
SP Deshmukh emphasized that the initiative will boost grassroots-level intelligence, helping authorities stay ahead of crimes, accidents, and threats like wild animal attacks, which are frequent in rural pockets. The program’s digital interface is managed both centrally and at the police station level, streamlining operations and data collection.
On the launch day itself, over 3,000 personnel visited more than 1,400 villages, submitting real-time updates through the newly developed site and app. Deshmukh stated that this synchronized approach would not only enhance law and order but also ensure that residents in the most secluded villages are heard and protected.
The Pune Rural Police aim to extend the coverage to all villages in their jurisdiction over the coming days, marking a significant step toward proactive and tech-enabled rural policing.
