Pune Rural Police Local Crime Branch Arrests Three Men, Two Pistols And Live Cartridges Seized

Pune, 18th September 2021: The sleuths from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune rural police have arrested three persons including a criminal on police record and recovered two pistols and live cartridges.

Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Abhinav Deshmukh had given instructions to take action against illegal arms dealers in the Pune district by extracting confidential information as it is the time of the Ganpati festival.

Accordingly, LCB’s Senior Police Inspector Ashok Shelke formed squads to monitor the movements of criminals on police records who deal in buying and selling such illegal weapons.

While a team of LCB was patrolling in Shirur and Ranjangaon areas on Friday, the team received information that Sagar alias Sonya Lahanu Kolpe of Ranjangaon MIDC, was moving around with a weapon. He was detained. A pistol and a live cartridge were found in his possession.

During interrogation, Kolpe told police that the pistol was given by Sharad Mallav of Shirur. Mallav is a known criminal involved in selling illegal firearms and smuggling weapons. He was also taken into custody. There are cases registered against him with Hadapsar and Shirur police stations.

He had sold a weapon to Nilesh alias Sonya Jitendra Kale of Nimone village in Shirur taluka. Nilesh was also detained and a pistol and live cartridge was seized from him.

Following persons have been arrested:
1)  Sharad Bansi Mallav, age 21 years, resident of Kacheali, Taluka -Shirur, District – Pune
2) Sagar alias Sonya Lahanu Kolpe, age 24 years, resident of Wadgaon Rasai, Taluka – Shirur, District – Pune
3) Nilesh alias Sonya Jitendra Kale, age 21 years, resident of Nimone, Taluka – Shirur, District – Pune

Two country made pistols and two live cartridges worth Rs 72,000 have been seized from their possession.

The action was taken under the guidance of Pune rural SP Dr Abhinav Deshmukh and Additional SP (Baramati Division) Milind Mohite. The team included Police Inspector Ashok Shelke, Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Kale, ASI Pandare, Head Constables Janardhan Shelke, Ajit Bhujbal, Raju Momin and Police Naik Mangesh Thigale, Yogesh Nagargoje, Constables Prasanna Ghadge
and Dagdu Virkar.
