Pune: Now You Can’t Take Your Vehicle On Sinhagad Fort; E-Buses To Ferry Tourists From Base

Pune, 18th September 2021: The district administration has banned the use of plastic on Sinhagad Fort. Also, tourists will not be allowed to take their private vehicles on top of the fort. They will be ferried by e-buses from the base, informed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
He was speaking after a review meeting on the development of Sinhgad Fort held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office on Friday.
MP Supriya Sule, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Ayush Prasad etc. were also present on the occasion.
Pawar said, ”Environmentally friendly vehicles should be used for transportation in the area. The parking lot should also have facilities for drivers. Toilet facilities should be provided for tourists. Development should be done with the view that tourists should get information about the history and also enjoy tourism. Locals who know Marathi and Hindi languages should be trained as guides to provide information to the tourists. Tourists should be provided with local dishes like Pithala-Bhakri and their stalls should be regulated. There are 70 families involved in selling the local dishes to tourists.”
The development plan of the fort area was informed through a presentation. The meeting was attended by members of the Sinhgad Forest Rights Committee and officials of the concerned department.
As per the plan, a parking lot will be built at the base of the fort on a 10-acre forest department land. People will park their vehicles there. E-buses operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will ferry the tourists to the top of the fort.
