Pune Rural Police To Launch Second Phase Of Fort Swachhta Abhiyan On January 20

Lonavala, 17th January 2024: Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police Mitesh Ghatte, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sathya Sai Karthik, the Fort Swachhta Abhiyan initiated by the Pune Rural Police Force in April 2023 will continue with its second phase on January 20, 2024.

The initial phase of the campaign commenced on April 26, 2023, with the cleaning of the historical Ekvira Fort and Buddhist Caves at Karla, Maval Pune District. A diverse group of participants, including police officers, enforcers, college students, NCC cadets, officials from charitable organizations, villagers, lawyers, journalists, and citizens, actively engaged in the clean-up efforts. Notable tourist spots like Lohgad Fort, Tiger Point, Bhushi Dam, and Tikona Fort in Lonavala were also addressed during this campaign, resulting in the collection of 12 tonnes of waste, which was responsibly handed over to the waste processing centre of Lonavala Municipal Council.

The second day of the Swachhta Abhiyan is scheduled to commence on January 20, 2024, starting at 6:30 AM. SDPO Karthik, the convenor of the campaign, announced that two groups of volunteers will spearhead cleaning initiatives at the following locations:

1. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk
2. Indrayani river bed near Shiv Somnath Mandir

The Pune Rural Police extend an invitation to all citizens to actively participate in the upcoming Swachhata Abhiyan on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 6:30 AM. Interested individuals are encouraged to assemble at Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Lonavala. The campaign serves not only as a means to enhance cleanliness but also as an avenue for community engagement and awareness.

Following the Swachhata Abhiyan, attendees will be guided on various important topics, including de-addiction, cyber security, women’s safety, and traffic regulation. Street plays and expert-led discussions will be utilized to disseminate crucial information and promote awareness within the community.

The Pune Rural Police are optimistic about the continued success of Fort Swachhta Abhiyan, emphasizing the significance of community involvement in maintaining a clean and aware society.
