Pune, 20th December 2025: A disturbing incident involving the alleged molestation of a young woman by her paying guest (PG) accommodation owner has come to light in Pune, raising serious concerns over the safety of women living away from home. The incident reportedly occurred around midnight on December 12, following which a case has been registered against the accused.

According to the police and the complaint filed by the victim, the woman is employed in Pune and resides in a PG accommodation. On the night of the incident, she had attended a party with friends and had consumed alcohol. As she was unable to walk properly, her friends dropped her off at the PG gate before leaving.

Police said that as the woman was heading towards her room in an intoxicated state, the PG owner allegedly followed her from behind, hugged her, and touched her inappropriately. Startled and frightened, the woman began shouting, after which the accused fled the spot.

The victim immediately approached the police station and complained to the PG owner. Based on her statement, Pune Police have registered a case of molestation and initiated an investigation. Police officials said that efforts are underway to arrest the accused at the earliest.

The incident has triggered tension and concern in the surrounding area, once again highlighting the issue of women’s safety in the city. Pune attracts a large number of young women from across the state and country for education and employment, many of whom rely on PG accommodations due to limited housing options.
