Kalyani Nagar, 15th November 2023: Residents of Kalyani Nagar have voiced concerns over safety following the circulation of a viral video depicting a scuffle involving security personnel and youths. The incident has raised concerns among locals, prompting calls for immediate action to preserve community harmony and ensure resident safety.
Monica Sharma, Sound Activist of Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar said, “The recurring fights and disturbances near DMart Road, fueled by pubs, hawkers, and nighttime gatherings, are deeply concerning. Residents, particularly women, fear for their safety, and other incidents have only intensified these anxieties. There’s an urgent need for the removal of these establishments causing disturbances. Several complaints have been made to authorities, but no strict action has been taken yet. Strict patrolling is essential to curb late-night crowd gatherings, fostering an environment where residents can live peacefully without compromising their safety. It’s a call for immediate intervention to restore tranquility, ensuring our community remains a secure haven for all residents. Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar has been proactively helping residents.”
A resident who is witness to such incidents in Kalyani Nagar said, “I have seen two such fights in the last 3 months early in the morning. In one incident a man was full of blood stains and bleeding in the hands. He was dazed and sat on the compound wall for more than an hour. These two incidents witnessed by me were right opposite the entrance of the Cerebrum IT park building that houses D-Mart. The timing was early morning around 6.30 a.m., when I went for my morning walk from Kumar Kruti. Men and women often scantily dressed can be seen dancing and drinking with music boring from their parked cars. Drink bottles can be seen lying around in the mornings.”
In response to the accusations, Sanjay Gurang, Elrow Club Manager denied the involvement of Elrow in the incident and said, “These bouncers do not belong to Elrow Club. They all are society/building security Personnel.”

When Punekar News brought the issue to Balkrishna Kadam, Police Inspector of Yerwada Police Station, he said, “We weren’t informed of the issue. If such issues are reported to us, we will investigate and if needed patrol the area as well. “
