Pune, 17th March 2023: A series of burglaries have taken place in the Dhanori and Porwal Road areas of Pune. Three burglaries occurred in one day, all perpetrated by the same group of three individuals. Skyways Sereno was robbed at 3:30 AM, followed by Ellora Elite at 3:50 AM.

Santosh Chavan, the Chairman of Elora Elite, stated that the CCTV footage showed three burglars involved, who had previously robbed Skyways Sereno.

The burglars targeted two flats at Ellora Elite, one of which was unoccupied, while the family of the other flat had left for their village on the same day. He also pointed out that the area near Elora Elite has poor street lighting and inadequate police patrolling.

When Punekar News contacted ACP Kishore Jadhav from Yerwada Division for comments on the Porwal Road incident, he appeared to be unaware of the burglaries that had taken place there.

An investigation has been launched into the burglary incidents by Senior Police Inspector Dattatray Bapkar from the Vishrantwadi Police Station. As the investigation is ongoing and the suspects have committed thefts on other flats in Porwal Road, no details can be shared to avoid the possibility of the accused fleeing.

In the past 10 days, several residents have voiced their concerns about safety on Twitter. Many have complained about loud noises coming from motorcycle exhausts and reported instances of drunken behaviour. The recent burglaries have further heightened these concerns.

“Modified bikes create noise pollution at night and disturb everyone on Porwal road. Lohegaon police do nothing. Police need to get strict and rip off their silencers or tow away their bikes,” one resident commented on Twitter. “@PuneCityPolice Can you please help us with a nuisance that’s been going around for months now? Location: Porwal Road, Lohegaon. Some youngsters after 10:30 pm start creating a nuisance by rumbling their bullet silencers all night thereby disturbing everyone’s sleep till 4 am,” the Twitter user requested further.

Several other citizens have also taken to Twitter with their requests. “@PuneCityPolice we have bikers with no silencer hanging around so late at Dhanori-Porwal road. It becomes impossible to sleep. Can we do something about it please?” one citizen requested. “Hi @PuneCityTraffic, can you please take some action on the loud noise-making royal Enfield bullet riders on the Porwal road stretch in Dhanori/Lohegaon? Every night they cause disturbance to kids and adults. Some of them don’t even have number plates. Speedy action is requested,” another stated.
