Pune: Sarod Recital and ‘Vaikuntanayaka’ Program Featuring Abhang Compositions On November 15
Pune, 11th November 2024: Alpha Events, a key promoter of classical music, has organized a musical concert featuring two unique performances: a sarod recital by promising young artist Indrayudh Majumdar, and ‘Vaikunthnayaka,’ a program based on Abhang compositions by Maharashtra’s revered saints.
The event will take place on Friday, 15th November 2024, at 5:30 PM at the Bal Shikshan Mandir auditorium in Mayur Colony.
Nikhil Joshi, Director of Alpha Events, and renowned classical singer Aparna Panashikar shared the details of the program in a joint statement. The first session will showcase a sarod recital by Indrayudh Majumdar, who will be accompanied by the acclaimed tabla maestro Pandit Arvind Kumar Azad.
Indrayudh Majumdar, who began playing the sarod at the age of five under the guidance of his father, Pandit Tejendra Majumdar, is a rising star in the classical music world. His mother, Dr. Manasi Majumdar, has also contributed to his musical training in singing. Indrayudh belongs to the distinguished Senia Maihar gharana of sarod playing and has been recognized with several national and international awards.
The second session of the program, Vaikuntanayaka, produced by Shri Sant Seva Sangh, will present Abhang compositions by Maharashtra’s revered saints, including Sant Janabai, Sant Shri Vitha Maharaj, Sant Shri Nila Maharaj, Sant Shri Narahari Sonar Maharaj, Sant Shri Sena Nhavi Maharaj, Sant Shri Savatamali Maharaj, Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj, Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, and Sant Shri Eknath Maharaj.
Prominent vocalists such as Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, a disciple of Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Anand Bhate, a disciple of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, and Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar, a disciple of Ganasaraswati Kishori Amonkar, will perform these compositions. The music for this session has been composed by Jeevan Dharmadhikari.
The program will be compered by Swarnima, Trustee of Shri Sant Seva Sangh, with musical accompaniment by Bharat Kamat (Tabla), Prasad Joshi (Pakhawaj), Uddhav Kumbhar (Percussion), and Shubhada Athavale (Samvadini).
The concert is open to all.
