Pune: Satara Police Question IAS Officer Prabhakar Deshmukh in Extortion Case Linked to Minister Jaykumar Gore
Koregaon Park, 3rd April 2025: The Satara Police questioned IAS officer Prabhakar Deshmukh for three hours at his Koregaon Park residence in Pune as part of an ongoing extortion investigation involving Maharashtra’s Rural Development Minister, Jaykumar Gore.
The interrogation follows the recent arrest of a woman caught accepting ₹2 crore in extortion money. She was apprehended red-handed and taken into custody immediately.
Additionally, journalist Tushar Kharat, known for frequently accusing Minister Jaykumar Gore, has also been arrested and charged under multiple legal provisions. Sources suggest that the police are investigating Deshmukh’s possible involvement in the case.
Earlier, during a session in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed that Deshmukh was in contact with the woman who had filed a complaint against Minister Gore. This prompted the Satara Police to question Deshmukh at his residence.
After the three-hour interrogation, the police left Deshmukh’s home. The investigation remains ongoing, with further developments awaited.
