Bopkhel, 3rd November 2021: A bridge connecting Bopkhel and Khadki is being built by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The work is going on defence land and around 502 fully grown trees will be cut for this work.

This cutting is being opposed by the citizens and they have appealed to Maharashtra Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray that instead of cutting the native trees, they should replant them in another area.

In their letter, the citizens mentioned that all the 502 trees are native and they have a huge importance in biodiversity. Therefore instead of cutting these trees, they should be re-planted elsewhere on the bank of the Mula river or Pawana dam.
