Pune, June 26, 2021: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)’s Department of Media and Communication Studies has secured the top fourth position among all the mass communication colleges across the country, according to a survey conducted by India Today.

India Today magazine conducts an annual survey of educational institutions in every branch across India. After which, it announces the names of the top ten quality educational institutes in the respective subjects. SPPU’s Department of Media and Communication Studies ranked fourth in the survey in 2019 and 2020.

The magazine shed light on how the department has adopted an ‘MS team system’ to ensure that students do not stop learning amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It also informed about how the department holds demonstrations, assessments, and admission process and how the department conducts exams at the centre. The survey also shed light on what students experience while learning via this new learning method.

“Teachers, non-teaching staff and students all work hard to make the department special. It is the only State-level university in India to compete with Central universities and private institutions. Even in the COVID-19 era, we have managed to maintain the fourth position,” said Department of Media and Communication Studies Head of Department Dr Madhavi Reddy.
