Kondhwa, 16th June 2025: In a shocking and distressing incident on the first day of the new academic year, Munot Primary School in Kondhwa, Pune abruptly shut its doors, leaving more than 300 students and their parents stranded outside the campus with no prior notice.

Students arrived in full uniform, excited to begin the new term, only to find the school gates locked and no staff present. Confused and agitated, parents gathered at the entrance, seeking answers, only to be informed that the school had been closed indefinitely by its management.

According to preliminary information, the closure stems from an ongoing dispute between the teaching staff and the school management. The school authorities reportedly advised parents to seek alternative admissions for their children, citing that classes would no longer continue at the institution.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents, many of whom had already paid school fees and purchased uniforms, books, and supplies for the year. No official prior communication had been issued by the school regarding the suspension of academic operations.

“This is completely irresponsible. How can a school be shut down without any notice, especially on the first day? What are we supposed to do now?” said one distressed parent.

Munot Primary School, which has been operating for several years, is said to be 60% government-aided and has served a large number of students from Kondhwa and surrounding areas. Despite receiving partial government support, the school management reportedly failed to resolve internal administrative conflicts, resulting in this sudden shutdown.

Parents are now demanding intervention from local education authorities and a refund of fees paid, while also urging the government to take action against the school management for negligence.
