Pune Schools Closed on July 7 as Collector Extends Holiday to PMC, PCMC and Nine Talukas Amid Red Alert
Pune, 6th July 2026: In view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) latest weather forecast and the continuing threat posed by heavy rainfall, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has revised the school holiday order, directing all schools in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) areas, along with nine talukas, to remain closed on Tuesday, July 7.
The revised order comes after the IMD continued its warning of extremely heavy rainfall across Pune district. The district has witnessed incessant rain over the past few days, leading to flooding, rising water levels in rivers and dams, and multiple landslides in hilly regions.
As per the latest order, the holiday has been declared for all primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, as well as all Anganwadis, in the following areas:
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)
Maval
Mulshi
Bhor
Rajgad
Junnar
Ambegaon
Khed
Haveli
The order is applicable to all Zilla Parishad schools, government schools, municipal schools, government Ashram schools, private aided and unaided schools, English-medium schools, and Anganwadis in these areas.

The District Administration said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students in view of the adverse weather conditions.
Despite the holiday for students, all headmasters, teaching staff, and non-teaching employees have been directed to report to their respective schools during regular working hours. Under the Disaster Management Act, they must remain available to assist the local administration in emergency response and disaster management operations whenever required.
The Collector has appealed to citizens to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow advisories issued by the district administration and disaster management authorities until the weather situation improves.
