Chikhali, 6th July 2026: Continuous heavy rainfall on Monday caused extensive damage at Blue Dice Society in Chikhali under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) after the compound walls on both the front and rear sides of the residential complex, developed by Sonigara Builder, collapsed due to relentless rain and mounting water pressure.

The incident severely affected the society’s C and D wings, with rainwater rushing into the premises and inundating the parking area and ground floor. Waterlogging reached nearly four feet, leaving residents stranded and causing significant damage to vehicles and property.

According to residents, more than 50 four-wheelers and hundreds of two-wheelers were affected after floodwater entered the parking area and ground floor. Several vehicles were partially submerged, while common areas, electrical installations, and other infrastructure also sustained damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Residents said the sudden rise in water levels triggered panic, with many families rushing to move their vehicles and protect their belongings as floodwater rapidly spread across the society.

Raju Mante, a resident of Flat No. C2-604 at Blue Dice Society, said, “The situation escalated within a very short time. Water entered the society rapidly after the compound walls collapsed, flooding the parking area and ground floor. Many vehicles were damaged, and residents faced a frightening situation. We request the PCMC and disaster management authorities to immediately inspect the site, ensure the safety of residents, and provide assistance for restoration and preventive measures.”

He added, “This is not just about damaged vehicles; it is about the safety of hundreds of families living here. The compound walls collapsed under immense water pressure, raising serious concerns about drainage and flood management. We urge the PCMC to take immediate corrective measures, inspect the structural stability of the society, and implement long-term solutions so that residents do not have to face such a disaster again.”

Residents have appealed to the PCMC and disaster management authorities to carry out an urgent structural assessment of the damaged compound walls, clear the accumulated water, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents during the ongoing monsoon. They have also urged Sonigara Builder to inspect the damaged compound walls, provide the necessary support for restoration work, and coordinate with the authorities to ensure the safety of all residents.
