Pune, 14th April 2024: A senior citizen fell victim to a fraudulent scheme, losing a significant sum of money. Vishrambagh police have registered a case against Sunil Namdev Gadkar, a 32-year-old resident of Ganesh Yoga Society, Ambegaon Budruk, in connection with this incident.

The complaint was lodged by a senior citizen residing in Kasba Peth, whose son aspired to pursue a medical course. Approximately a year ago, the complainant was introduced to Sunil Gadkar through an acquaintance, who purported to facilitate admission to a prestigious medical college.

According to the complaint, Gadkar arranged a meeting at the Bharti Bhavan area on Shastri Road, where he obtained a blank cheque from the victim. Over time, Gadkar extracted a staggering sum of Rs. 69,70,742 from the complainant, citing various procedures required for admission to medical courses. Payments were made both online and in cash as demanded by Gadkar.

Despite the substantial payments, the complainant’s son was never admitted to the medical course promised by Gadkar. Upon realizing the fraudulent nature of the scheme, the victim lodged a complaint with the Vishrambagh police station.

Assistant Police Inspector Nimbalkar has been assigned to investigate the case.
