Pune: Senior Citizen Defrauded of Rs 1.95 Crore in Land Investment Scam, Case Filed Against Company Directors

Pune, 2nd November 2024: A senior citizen has been duped of Rs 1.95 crore in a fraudulent investment scheme involving a land-buying and selling company. The victim was promised lucrative returns by the directors of Varad Properties Solution Company, located on Law College Road.

The Sinhagad Road police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Mahesh Vijay Kunte (51) and Aparna Mahesh Kunte (48), both residents of Law College Road. The couple serves as directors of the real estate firm.

According to the complaint filed by the senior citizen, who lives in a society on Suncity Road in the Sinhagad Road area, the Kunte couple convinced him to invest in their company in 2019, promising substantial returns. Over a period of time, the senior citizen invested Rs 1.76 crore in Varad Properties Solution Company. The accused had also committed to returning Rs 19.52 lakh on the investment through a bond agreement. However, they failed to honor this promise and withheld a total of Rs 1.95 crore, including the returns.

After realizing he had been defrauded, the victim filed a complaint with the police. The Sinhagad Road Police have registered a case and transferred the investigation to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Senior Police Inspector Magar is leading the investigation into the matter.
