Pune: Serum’s Adar Poonawalla Urges US President Joe Biden To Lift Export Ban On Raw Materials Required For Corona Vaccine

Pune, 17th April 2021: The rapid rate of cases of corona infection in India has raised concerns. The vaccine is considered big support in this crisis, but its production seems to be slowing down.

Meanwhile, Pune-based Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla has urged US President Joe Biden to lift a temporary ban on the export of raw materials needed to produce the vaccine. Poonawalla said that to stop the production of vaccines in India, lifting the ban is necessary.

Poonawalla has made this appeal to US President Joe Biden by tweeting. Poonawalla tagged Biden, writing, “Respected Joe Biden. If we want to defeat this virus with solidarity, then on behalf of the vaccine industry outside the United States, I appeal to you to lift the ban on the export of raw materials necessary for the manufacture of medicines. Your administration has complete information.”

The Covishield vaccine is being produced by the Serum Institute of India. Currently, work is underway to beat Corona in India through Covaxin and Covishied vaccines.

Currently, the company is producing 6 to 7 crore vaccines every month. Frontline workers in India, all over the age of 45, are getting vaccinated. Apart from this, there is a demand to vaccinate other people in the country. However, no decision has been taken in this regard till now. But it is being said that soon the youth will be vaccinated.
