Pune: Seven Teachers Booked for Failing to Perform Voter Registration Duties in Kothrud
Pune, 5th June 2026: Seven teachers, including five from a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) school in Karvenagar and two from a private Marathi-medium school, have been booked for allegedly failing to comply with official orders related to voter registration work.
The complaint was lodged at the Warje Malwadi Police Station by Manisha Matare (32), who is supervising the voter registration campaign in the Kothrud Assembly constituency.
According to the police, Matare, an inspector with the State Tax Department, was assigned supervisory responsibility for the voter registration drive in the constituency. She stated in her complaint that seven teachers had failed to carry out duties assigned to them as Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The teachers had been issued written orders by voter registration officer Vitthal Udamale directing them to work as BLOs during the voter enrolment campaign. However, they allegedly failed to comply with the orders.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the seven teachers under relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act. The investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Tarde.
