Pune: Shahir Hemantraje Mavale Detained For Violating COVID Prevention Norm At Lal Mahal
Pune, February 19, 2021: Pune city police while taking action for violation of the guidelines in the background of Covid-19 pandemic has detained Shahir Hemantraje Mavale for presenting the ‘Powada’ near Lal Mahal in Pune. Powada is a kind of ballad which tells a story of valour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The State government had issued guidelines to be followed on Shiv Jayanti (today) considering the rising number of Covid-19 cases across the cities in Maharashtra. However, Shahir Mavale of Shahir Hige Lokkala Prabhodhini had sent a letter to the Home department to grant the permission for presenting Powada on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti which was denied by the State.
Despite that, Mavale went ahead and conducted the programme and thus, the State had to take steps in that regard. Mavale violated the guidelines and decided to go ahead with the scheduled programme. He also said that he does not care even if he gets arrested for his actions. “Shiv Jayanti without Powada means a body without a soul” he had said.
