Baramati, 6th May 2024: Former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, who had established residency on Bhulabhai Desai Road in Malabar Hill, Mumbai, a decade ago, is now set to cast his vote in Baramati on Tuesday. Despite voting in Mumbai for the past ten years, Pawar has finalized the necessary formalities to switch his constituency back to Baramati. He will exercise his franchise at the polling center in Govindbaug.

This change in constituency holds significance as Pawar’s daughter and incumbent MP, Supriya Sule, is contesting against her sister-in-law, Sunetra Pawar, in Baramati. Party workers view this development as a matter of pride for the NCP.

Pawar initially shifted his residential address to Mumbai to meet the requirements for contesting elections held by the Mumbai Cricket Association. However, he has now reverted to his previous address in Baramati. His polling station falls under Malegaon in Baramati, where he has been a voter since the early 1960s.

NCP workers see Pawar’s decision to vote from Baramati as an inspiration for citizens to participate in the electoral process. They believe that Pawar’s return to his roots will generate enthusiasm among voters in Baramati, especially considering the emotional significance of the contest between Pawar and his nephew, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. This move is expected to energize the electoral atmosphere in the region.
